Shipping Information
For Doctor's Data direct account customers whose home country of origin is the United States, Canada, Australia, Ireland, or the United Kingdom, prepaid shipping is provided for specimens when the patient is located in the same country as the direct account customer, and the specimen is shipped from that country. If prepaid shipping is available, shipping instructions will be included in the test collection kit along with a prepaid billable stamp, return shipping label, or an Air Waybill.
If you or your patient are shipping from any other country or if a level of service greater than that provided is desired, then your own shipping arrangements must be made at your own expense (otherwise these additional charges will be billed to the ordering practitioner). To ensure efficient test processing and to avoid shipping costs, please follow the steps below:
Commercial Invoice Requirements for International Shipments
A commercial invoice is required when sending specimens back to Doctor's Data from outside the US. Commercial invoices are included with each test kit shipped to clients outside the US. If you prefer to create one online, click here and follow the prompts. After submitting the form, a PDF copy of your completed commercial invoice will be available at the top of the page to download, print, and include with your shipping documents.
Within the US
- Ship specimens Monday through Friday. If you complete the collection on the weekend, hold the specimen until the following Monday to ship.
- Place the cardboard kit box containing the specimens and the completed test requisition form into the FedEx Clinical Pak.
- If your kit has a billable stamp, write your name and address in the space provided on the prepaid Billable Stamp and tear off the Customer Receipt for your records. If your kit has a return shipping label, make note of the tracking number. Use the tracking feature on fedex.com to follow the progress of your specimen shipment.
- Schedule your pickup using one of the following methods.
- Call: To schedule a pickup, call FedEx toll-free at 1-800-463-3339 (1-800-GO FEDEX). When you hear the automated greeting, say "Schedule a Pick-up." At the next prompt, say "Schedule a Pick-up with a Label or Stamp." You will then be asked if the word "Stamp" is written on the waybill; reply "Yes". You will then be prompted for your address information.
- Drop off: You may also use a FedEx drop-off facility. Click to find a nearby drop-off location. If selecting a drop-off location, call ahead as restrictions may apply.
- Online: There is also the option of scheduling a specimen pickup online. Visit this FedEx website link and enter your contact details. Under Pickup details, select
Schedule a new pickup
, set the date and time, then click Finalize and save the confirmation number.
- Do not use a drop box. FedEx will not accept diagnostic specimens placed into a drop box.
From Canada
